The APC leadership delusion by Obioma Nwogu

They feign that the mass defection from APC will not affect their chances of winning 2nd term for Buhari in 2019 because, according to them, Buhari is a brand with strong electoral value. 

Yes, prior to 2015, Buhari was not only a brand, he was a deity, full of myths for his traditional northern supporters. They believed that Buhari was the messiah. Thank God he was elected as president in 2015. And that was the beginning of Buhari's unveiling and demystification. 

From May 29, 2015 till date Buhari has offered Nigerians nothing but clueless and incompetent leadership. There has been increased hunger, poverty, hardship, recession, lopsided and selective fight against corruption, lies, deceits and propaganda as the official language of government, brazen nepotism as never before, brutal killings and ethnic cleansing of other non Fulani tribes and the government acting as the official spokesman and defender of their murderous acts. As a matter of fact, Buhari's emergence exposed the Fulani tribe as the most vulnerable and hated tribe in Nigeria today!  

Invariably, the very traditional northern supporters of Buhari will be the very ones to vote him out in 2019. They will present another Fulani man that is more liberal, educated and detribalized to correct the wrong and stereotype of Fulani as a bloodthirsty tribe. If Buhari had not won the 2015 election, he would have remained a deity and mythical. But he has been demystified. 

It is not even the southern votes that will throw Buhari out and back to Daura, but the very northern votes that brought him in. Can you see the restiveness of the Area Youths concerning Buhari's 2nd term? That's a big pointer!

Another factor that these deluded Buhari supporters are oblivious of is the historical antecedents of every 20 years elections that have taken place in Nigeria. Every election taking place 20 years have ushered in a new era in the politics of Nigeria. Take a look at the following:

1. The 1959 election ushered in the independence of Nigeria. 

2. The 1979 election after 20 years ushered in a civilian administration that took over from the military. 

3. 1999 election ushered in the Obasanjo administration that took over from another military interregnum. 

4. Here we are  faced with the 2019 election ( anotherv20 years from 1999)  which will usher in another administration of younger, competent and result driven administration. Certainly Buhari cannot be part of this! And it is this administration that will redefine the future of Nigeria. 

The unseen forces at play are behind all these defections. More defections will follow in the weeks ahead.
