The Nigerian Army reported today that its troops in clean-up operations killed six terrorists of the armed group Boko Haram and rescued 33 people.
The spokesman of the military body, Texas Chukwu, revealed in a statement that the actions took place in the towns of Damboa and Bama in Borno State (northeast).
Chukwu said that among the rescued are eight men, 12 women and 13 children, who were properly identified and delivered to the 'appropriate authority'.
In addition, six AK 47 rifles, ammunition of various calibers, a grenade hand and three explosive devices manufactured locally were also confiscated.
Boko Haram, which struggles to impose an Islamic State, has killed thousands of people and ruined the economy of Northeastern Nigeria, where it has also displaced millions of Nigerians.
The African country tries to put an end to the insurgency and, in this regard, at the beginning of April President Muhammadu Buhari approved releasing 1 billion naira (almost three million dollars) for the purchase of safety equipment.
